XWGP
stands for "Xena : Warrior Guinea Pig." XWGP is a rather lighthearted and
humorous (I hope) take on a possible incarnation of our favorite do-gooding-duo.
Why guinea pigs? Well .... why not? (Besides the fact I don't draw humans
very well!) The strips are meant as a tribute to all the stars of X:WP,
and none of the jokes are meant to disparage their work ... just
to poke a little fun at them (and the fans now and then). Honestly, no
disrespect is intended at all! Of interesting note, XWGP was originally
supposed to launch the fall of 2000 ... due to the life, the universe,
and other complications, I've delayed the release for half a year, so the
first comics may seem to be a bit behind on Season Six. (Figures I'd be
starting this right AFTER the series ends!) Also, the comics may
contain itsy-bitsy-teenie-weenie SPOILERS
for
season five. So apologies to all the international Xenites ... hang in
there!
Comics are posted weekly (or whenever I can get around to it!). At the moment, there are 12 comics saved up and ready to go, and I'm currently working on comic 13. In the meantime, I have plenty of extra guinea goodies to share! Right now, I'm aiming for a Wednesday posting schedule ... this might change.
Are you going to have a Gabrielle character in the strip? If so, when?
This is a rather popular question! Yes, Gabrielle is one of the main characters in XWGP. (after all, I'm a huge Gabfan too!) The bard makes her appearance (well ...sorta) in strip 6. However, reincarnation can often be a pain in the piggy posterior, so poor Xena has her hands full!
Are any other characters from the show going to appear in the strips?
Yes. I am an equal opportunity spoofer.
Why are you so weird?! Who draws guinea pigs ANYWAY?
I dunno. It might have something to do with the fact I sat a liiiiiiiiittle too close to the microwave oven, way back when I was very young and microwave ovens were still considered a nuclear threat. Maybe that's why my hair glows in the dark! Seriously, I just like drawing animals .... specially rodents. Hey ... it worked for Disney, didn't it? And ... I just can't draw humans. Something about the noses always throws me off! (And paws are easier to draw than hands.)
Actually, this is the "yes the drawings STINK" disclaimer. I am a VERY amateur artist and I'm pretty new at drawing on the computer. I didn't major in art, and I never took an art class. One day, I loaded a new drawing program on my computer and just went hog wild playing around with it. (See kids? Experimenting can be BAD!) Throw in the fact that I'm also a HUUUUUGE fan of Xena, and the fact that somehow some mutant guinea pigs snuck in and nibbled a hole in my subconscious, and viola! XWGP! Unfortunately, as many strange experients do, this kinda got out of hand and a couple of weeks later, when I emerged from my guinea-induced artistic haze, I had twelve comic strips.
So basically , XWGP a creative experiment gone horribly wrong. The quality of the art shifts throughout the series, and you can definitely tell the difference between the first ones to the current one I'm working on. I hope it's getting better, though I have a sneaking suspicion it's taken a left curve into the bizarre. So bear with me ... and yes, it's only going to get weirder from here on out!
Odds and Ends that are intriguing ....
These
comics are dedicated to the memory of Rebekah, as well as to the continuing
careers of the stars of XWP! Without LL, ROC, and all the people who make
Xena special, this comic would not have been possible!

there anything you're dying to know? Send in those questions!
